A Brammofan’s got to keep busy doing something these days. While Brammo focuses on keeping Best Buy stocked up with Enertias and is diverting its power to the assembly line instead of the BrammoBuzzmaker, I put together the following two Google maps, which show the locations of the electric motorcycle races (so far) that have been announced by the TTXGP and the FIM. My good buddy from Norway, Ivar, made the observation that September 26, 2010, is going to be a busy day in Italy. Both series will be holding races – about 45 miles apart.
Tweets and pics and posts and videos keep flowing in.
Back when these guys left Detroit to begin their voyage, I started my own effort: keeping track of it all. I’ve tried, but I know a few have fallen through the cracks. If you have the time, feel free to check my work and add what needs to be added:
Both should be able to be edited, added to, tweaked, etc. I obviously haven’t taken any of the photos, but most are posted by the ShockingBarack team themselves, so I’m pretty sure you can borrow them to use in your own posts, articles, etc.
I’m home tending to my sick DD8, so I’m having trouble keeping up with it all, especially given the increased pace in the last couple of days.
And if you haven’t gone to www.shockingbarack.com and signed your name, shame on you! I did.
I’ve been away from the GPS for two whole minutes.
[applause] Way to go!
Actually, while you were clapping, I checked it again. Looks like ShockingBarack is on the move again… just left the Westgate Shopping Center in Lorain, Ohio. I think they might still be looking for handwarmers.
It all started this morning when I went to their website, it’s at www.shockingbarack.com, and I noticed that they had a blinking blue dot on their Google map. It’s their location. It moves. Oh… look, they just pulled off U.S. 6 — it’s called the Grand Army of the Republic Highway on that particular stretch — and hmmm, looks like they’re in the parking lot of “Community Health Partners West.” Sounds like a hospital? Hope nobody got hurt.
But I digress.
I know that GPS-aholism is serious and that these meetings are about more than the free coffee and donuts. Hey, speaking of coffee and donuts, these guys had that very meal for breakfast yesterday at Tim Hortons. Really. Wismann has the picture to prove it:
Yeah . . . so I get the impression I need to do some hard work to break my addiction. Ummm. Hmmm. Speaking of breaking things, they’re still at the Health Clinic in Lorain, Ohio. You don’t suppose that Schiff had some sort of unfortunate accident? He’s a bit wreckless . . . got busted in Adrian, Michigan for running a stop sign, you know.
Anywhoooo. . . I better go. My phone can only keep up with so much, guess I need an iPhone. I’m pretty sure that is how we’re tracking them, by the way. See you tomorrow.
I’ve added some of the pictures and the video to the ShockingBarack map. I named it Brammo to Obama, just to avoid confusion in case they come up with their own map. It’s public and open and I’m pretty sure that just about anyone can add to it, edit it, etc. If you have photos or videos, they can be embedded, or, if you don’t want to bother with that, you can email them to me and I will post them to the map.
The map, above, is just a link to the actual Google map, as WordPress.com doesn’t allow embedded maps.
I keep on waiting for the guys to set this up by themselves, but based on the information I have so far, here is a link to a Google Map I created for this trip. This is just an experiment and I’m not guaranteeing the routes. Just thought it would be fun to follow them on a map.
